WHAT'S NEW ABOUT IT?
All other systems of electronic ignition for FIAT require that the original mechanical centrifugal advance system is still fitted, points assisted systems even use the original points operating cam which suffers uneven wear and consequent lumpy running of the engine because each cylinder has its own inaccurate ignition timing. Furthermore they all require a separate box for the associated electronics.
CONSTRUCTION
This construction of all the electronics inside an almost original distributor means that there are no unusual wires and connectors leading to a 'box of tricks' (other types of electronic ignition have that) which has to be mounted somewhere!
VARIABLE DWELL-RATIO
So much better than a conventional contact breaker set up because the variable dwell angle ensures a large spark at high engine revolutions, with 'points' and of course points assisted 'electronic ignition' the dwell angle, controlled by the points gap, remains constant so at high revolutions the coil has insufficient charging time. 123ignition addresses the problem of dwell angle in the basic model other makes demand that you buy the 'sports' version for such performance!
SMOOTHER ENGINE, MORE BALANCED
So how can 123ignition make an engine smoother?
A typical 'FIAT-problem' is the slightly different ignition timing obtained on each cylinder because of wear or irregularities on the contact breaker cam, 123ignition properly addresses this problem in 2 ways, firstly the cam is removed and secondly that even if the two magnets were not evenly spaced the software within 123ignition converts it into perfect timing.
NO MOVING PARTS
Additionally, because the 'centrifugal' advance is now handled by complex software (all within the one simple module) acceleration is unbelievably smooth but particularly so in slow running in traffic, (from 1000rpm to 3000rpm) this is far better than with conventional ignition.

Please read the installation manual carefully. It contains more information about the motor- and distributor numbers, static timing and the advance-curves (often found on the last page), the specifications of the 123-ignition and a step-by-step description of the installation procedure.
Note: Although used coils all look alike, they should be viewed with suspicion since one cannot tell from the outside whether, and how often they were exposed to overheating in the past. Installing the 123ignition system will ensure that the coil will never be overheated again in future. We recommend the 123 Blue Coil.

A Quality Product
My Fiat 500 had a cracked distributor pedestal which was knocking the timing off. This was causing hard starting and the occasional misfire. When the piece finally broke, I bit the bullet and decided to upgrade to the 123Ignition system. I could not be happier. From first impressions you get the feeling this is a well engineered piece of kit. The installation itself is very straightforward and having run it for a week, the hard starting and misfiring issues have been completely rectified. I would agree with some other reviewers that the instructions could be a bit more detailed. For example, I don’t know what the benefits of the “idle control” setting are, so my car is running the standard “0” curve. However, I doubt it has run this smoothly in years! I would certainly recommend this product.

Recently fitted a 123 ignition to my fiat 500(650cc out of a 126).amazing difference to the old accuspark one (found the distributor was shot. I can drive further out now confident of its reliability.many thanks for a brilliant piece of kit
123 ontsteking
Na het plaatsen van de elektronisch ontsteking loopt het fiat 500f prima , met natuurlijk een 650cc motor er in . Maar blijkbaar zit er onder de verdeler een schroefje met standen ik vroeg me af wat het beste stand was voor dit 650cc blokje . Nu staat het standaard zou hij beter presteren aks ik het hoger zet . Op 1of 2 of 3 of maakt het geen verschil . Super

Werkt super, de fiat 500 voelt als herboren en de instalatie was makkelijk!!
Zündung funktioniert perfekt
Zündung ist genau wie beschrieben und der Einbau nach der Anleitung sehr einfach. Funktioniert sehr gut und Motor läuft ruhiger als mit der herkömmlichen Zündung. Nach der kurzen Erfahrung kann ich die Zündung weiterempfehlen.
Überraschend genaue Zündung
Perfekte Zündung, einfache Montierung, einziges Problem: den Drehschalter für verschiedene Kurven kann man nur sehr schwer oder gar nicht umstellen. Beim Umstellen wird die Kunststoffschraube gefaehrdet.

Binnen een uur geïnstalleerd op m'n Fiat 126 (bj.1980), werkte meteen.
En ik ben nog wel a-technisch op brandstofmotoren gebied.
Ben nu mooi van die contactpuntjes af.
