Has anyone experienced a rev limit after having fitted a123 ignition distributor? Mine will not rev over about 4,800rpm even though the limit set on the Bluetooth app is 6,000rpm.
Paul, No resolution as yet, mainly because I fitted a rebuilt engine in my car over last winter and that came with a Gotronic transistorised ignition system which seems to work pretty well.
When I do get back to the 123, I intended trying no rev limit set to see if that made any difference.
The issue you are describing can be caused by a number of things. Based on the information you provided I cannot even begin to guess where the problem may lie. I would suggest you give us a call so we can assist you better in this problem.
Hello Jeroen, thanks for your message. I believe I might have contacted your firm about this some time ago but didn't get very far. In the meantime, as I told Paul yesterday, I've installed a replacement engine in my car and that is running a different electronic ignition at present.
Thd original engine, which I still have, is being rebuilt this coming winter and when doing this I will be reinstalling my 123 unit, but the engine won't be going back in the car for now.
Briefly, the problem appeared to arise particularly when I took the car to be tuned on the rolling road. My tuner, who is very experienced, said he could not get the engine to rev above 4,800rpm, even though the limit was set at 6,000rpm.
i didn't take the matter any further at the time owing to the replacement engine being due to be fitted and I knew that was coming with the Gotronic unit mentioned in my reply to Paul. I had intended deleting any rev limit to see if that made any difference but haven't got around to trying that. My car is an Alpine Renault A110 1600 from 1969, with the 1565cc engine.
